Small Groups Create Real Connection
We cap groups at 6-12 participants. You're not a face in a crowd of 40. You're part of an intimate community where everyone learns each other's stories, supports each other's journeys, and often builds friendships that last long after the trip ends.
Founder-Led Experiences
At least one Beneath the Map founder travels with every group. This means you're exploring with someone who can text local friends to join us for dinner, answer honest questions about what it's really like to live here, and take you to the neighborhood spots we'd show our own families visiting from home.
Authentic Cultural Immersion
We introduce you to the people and places we know personally—local families, artists, entrepreneurs, and community organizations doing meaningful work. Plus expat residents who can share honest perspectives about the beautiful parts and the challenging parts of living here.
Go Deeper Than Surface Level
We design experiences that let you actually understand a place—not just see it. Plenty of time for conversations with locals, with fellow travelers, and for processing what you're experiencing. Our travelers range from 35-65 (though all ages welcome) and include professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, retirees, and remote workers. Some travel solo, some bring partners or friends.
